Hello,
I have a big problem with a friend's HP Envy 17-j082sf laptop.
It won't start.
The screen remains totally black from the start, with just the light of the shift lock key blinking 2 times slowly.
According to my internet research, this means that the bios is corrupt.
I've tried the various manipulations suggested on the forums: remove the battery and don't connect the power cable, disconnect the cr2032 battery, leave your finger on the start button for 60 seconds, reconnect the power cable and try to start up.
Several times, I got a gray screen instead of a black one, but no sentences were displayed.
I put the last (and only) bios on a USB key, following the HP installation procedure. But since nothing appears on the screen, it's impossible to boot on it.
I unpacked the cmos battery to test its charge, and found that only 1.15v of the 3 remained.
A new battery of the same type with the 2-pin connector costs 14€, but I don't know if that's the only problem...
Too bad it's not a classic cr2032 battery, this one is like certain on the 2pin cables...
Because I think that normally the pc is still supposed to boot without a battery, isn't it? Is it just that the bios settings won't save?
Or is that where the problem lies?
I also tested the pc startup by removing the 2 memory sticks. Now I have 3 slow flashes instead of 2 in a loop. Tested one memory strip plus the other, and in both slots.
Also tested disconnecting the cd drive and SSD. But nothing...
I regularly assemble and repair PCSs, but usually for small breakdowns. Here I'm a bit stumped...
Translation via deepl, sorry 🙂 I understand English well but I have trouble writing it
Thanks in advance for your help
