HP Envy M7-n109dx starts to start but immediately shuts off

Envy 17" touchscreen
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi! I have a Envy touch screen 17" i7 model M7-n109dx. The hinge area broke it ran for awhile fine then I started to smell burning  and immediately shut down.  Waited awhile turned it back on then it acted like it was going to stop but shut down instead-screen black screen went black upon 2nd start up attempt.  Below are the items we've replaced but still it will not start up.

Motherboard, battery, charge port, usb board w/power button, lid switch, cables for lid switch and usb board.

We did not yet replace the power supply because it seemed to be getting power to the computer for a millisecond

Can either the screen or the optical drive keep the computer from booting?  We have tried to smell everything thinking we'd find something that caused the burning smell with no luck.  Anybody with any ideas please let me know.  We are going to try a new power supply even though that seems counter intuitive but we are grasping at straws.

Thanks!
