HP Envy notebook goes into lock mode after login followed by black screen

HP Envy
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Sometimes when I turn on my laptop - power cable not attached, either within minutes or immediately, I get a message that it's 'locking' - screen goes black - then after short while, computer turns off.

Have gone through all bios, checked for hardware issues, check power source and all came back negative.
