HP Envy with No power and not charging

I have no power on my HP Envy laptop.

When plugged into the AC adapter, there is no white LED light. I replaced the AC adapter with a new OEM one and there is still no charge and no white light. 

I know the new AC adapter works because when tested with a volt tester, it shows power running through the computer. As soon as it is unplugged, from the AC adapter, the bolt tester shows no power at all. 

I can’t run any diagnostics since it is not turning on, plugged in or not. 

Any ideas?

@amandart23 Did you check with another wall outlet, excluding any surge protectors to check if it works?

 

While you respond to that, here's  the best way to resolve the issue, using the HP Guided Troubleshooter:

Let's start with a hard reset of your notebook computer before you try any other troubleshooting steps.

 

Reasons for a hard reset

A hard reset has the following effects:

  • Clears the memory.

  • Reestablishes the connection between the BIOS and the hardware

The following conditions can be helped by the hard reset:

  • Windows stop responding.

  • The display suddenly goes blank.

  • The computer does not wake from sleep or hibernate modes.

  • Software applications freeze or fail to respond.
