Hi @MichelleC5,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing blue screen errors on your HP Notebook can be frustrating, but there are steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the issue.

  • Note Down Error Message: When the blue screen appears, try to note down any error messages or error codes displayed along with the QR code. These can provide clues to what might be causing the problem.
  • Check Event Viewer: Use the Event Viewer in Windows to view detailed information about system events and errors. Look for any critical or error events around the time of the blue screen crash. This may provide more specific information about the cause of the issue.
  • Update Drivers: Outdated or incompatible drivers can sometimes cause blue screen errors. Make sure all device drivers, especially for important components like the graphics card, are up to date. You can usually find driver updates on the HP website or through Windows Update.
  • Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your operating system is fully up to date. Microsoft frequently releases patches and updates that address system stability issues.
  • Run Hardware Diagnostics: While you mentioned that you've run checks on the HP Notebook and everything appears okay, it might be beneficial to run more thorough hardware diagnostics. Some issues may not be immediately apparent without more in-depth testing.
  • Check for Overheating: Overheating can sometimes cause blue screen errors. Make sure your laptop's cooling system is functioning properly and that air vents are not blocked. Consider using a laptop cooling pad if necessary.
  • Scan for Malware: Malware infections can also cause system instability. Perform a full scan of your system using a reputable antivirus or antimalware program to rule out any malicious software.
  • Perform System Restore: If the issue started occurring after a recent software installation or update, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state when it was functioning correctly.
  • Check for Memory Issues: Faulty RAM can cause blue screen errors. Use Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check for memory problems. You can access this tool by searching for "Windows Memory Diagnostic" in the Start menu.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully fix the blue screen issue on your HP Notebook.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello

Thank you for your in depth guide on things I can check.

I can't get a screenshot / photo of the error as it appears too quickly and then the laptop retarts.

Using the information you have provided I have checked through the items you have mentioned.

All updates are complete.

I checked for critical errors as you mentioned.

The Critical error that is showing at the time of the windows error is a Kernal power error I have looked on the internet and adjusted the sleep settings for the laptop, as this was a suggestion in relation to Kernal errors.

I think the laptop could be overheating as well, so will invest in a laptop cooling mat and buy the cleaning product to clear the air vents.

Any further problems or questions that I have I will update this post.

Many thanks again for your help
