I'm having this problem with my HP Pavilion g6-1257sa laptop keyboard. It seems to happen at random. When 'it' happens, I can't use any of the keys, and when I click on things it's like shift is stuck. When I click on a internet URL, it opens in a new tab. The only solution that I know of is to turn the laptop on and off. Anyone having this problem?

I am using a HP Pavilion g6-1232sa which gave me the same 'it' trouble as you describe. And you are very right in describing it as a behaviour similar to the shift key being pressed. Any one else having similar problems? any resolutions?

It's also affecting the A3S74EA. It looks like it is locking the ctrl button and happens after using gestures on the mouse as it doesn't happen for me when using a seperate mouse.

I'm having a similar problem, except it's the "alt" key that activates by itself. Seems like there are similar reports all over the web. Kinda surprised there isn't a class action lawsuit over this yet.

So I got my G6 January 12th and already am on my 2nd one.. the keyboard is also acting up on this one as well. I troubleshooted with HP Tech Support and he basically had me check my updates, uninstall and reinstall the keyboard driver, and it's still being a lemon. I recommend taking it back asap and getting a Lenovo! HP sucks! I'm going to return mine right now! Sick of this!

I'm having the exact same problem. I took my laptop back today after one week and explained the problem with the keyboard locking. They exchanged it for me. Guess what? The exact same problem with the new laptop so it's back to Curry's I go tomorrow, this time for a refund. btw when I rang their tech support line they didn't have a clue.
