Product: Pavilion db-1021cy

My Pavilion db-1021cy randomly attempted to shut down today. It went to a black screen like it was powering down, but the fan is blowing at full speed and the backlights for the keyboard are flickering and constantly on (dimly). I can't get it to shut down. I've held down the power key for a hard shut down, but that isn't working. There isn't a way to remove the battery either. Right now I have it unplugged and I'm just waiting for the battery to die so it will shut down.

 

Does anyone know how to do a hard shutdown from another method or know of anything I can do that might wake it up?
