I downloaded a zip file from a trusted source and rather than extracting the files like I should have done, I clicked on one of the files. Immediately, my laptop went to a blue screen and showed the word "Locked" and the spinning circle and then the screen goes dark. I have rebooted the computer several times and each time my wall paper appears and then it goes to the blue screen/ locked routine and then dark.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you perform a system restore back to the date when the computer was working fine following the steps in the below article and check if it helps.
