Hello,

my HP Probook has 1 SanDisk SD8SN8U-256G-1006 which works well. I bought a new M2.SSD (Samsung 980 Pro (PCIe 4.0 NVME M.2). Bios does not list my new M2 SSD. Couple weeks ago I tried out Crucial P5 M2. SSD (Crucial P5 1000GB PCIe M.2 2280SS SSD) which also would not be listed in the boot menu. So, something is wrong with my HP Laptop...

Can anyone help???

Hi:

 

Your PC's M.2 slot only supports SATA SSD's not NVMe.

 

That is why neither of the NVMe drives you tried, worked.

 

See chapter 1, page 2 of the service manual for the supported M.2 drive types.

So, the maximum capacity of a new m.2 SSD can only be 256 GB... No Support for 512 or 1 TB ?

No, the drive has to be SATA.

 

If you want to install a 1 TB SATA M.2 SSD, that would be fine.

 

The capacities are just what HP offered in the model series.
