HP Spectre won’t charge or turn on

In 2017 I bought an HP Spectre x360 which I was very happy with until...

 

 I was using my HP Spectre x360 and I had a warning saying that the battery was low. Some time passed and when I went to plug the charger into my laptop it was dead.  But now my laptop no longer charges. No charging light, no nothing. I borrowed my friends charger and still it wouldn’t charge. After researching I tried a number of things such as a hard reset and many other suggestions that I found on the HP forum. No luck. 

 

I gave up and thought I would have to take it to repair when I could afford to do so. After finding another post, where it was reportedly a failed motherboard, HP repaired the customer’s laptop even though it was well out of warranty.

 

I’m wondering if anyone could suggest anything else to me as I’m wondering if it’s a motherboard issue also.

One more thing to add - I noticed that the laptop still has power even though it’s not turning on because when I connect an external device to it the device says it is being powered by the connection. 

So this seems to be a problem with the laptop itself. It seems to be a common issue. If this is not resolved then I will not be buying an HP again. Given this issue has happened to so many others online too.
