Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I found some test procedures recommended online by HP support.

They recommend using F2 key to go into hardware checks.  I got that far and when I ran hard disk check I get message no hard disk found.  At that point HP support guides me to contact HP support and when I do I get msg off warranty.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like hardware related issue with the computer as the hard drive was not found. The navigation can sometimes feel off-putting especially when all we want is immediacy. If you are having trouble navigating via the contact HP options, generally it is because either your product is Out of Warranty or you are trying to get support beyond the business hours and our business hours falls between 8 am to 6 pm EST. We also have an option to contact us via Facebook and Twitter in wake of exigency.

HP offers repair service for out of warranty products as well.

You can also find and visit the nearest HP service centre to repair the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I resolved this issue on my own - but good to hear that out of warranty HP service is still available.

I resolved this problem after the suggestions in the HP support center did not work for me.

The fix was simple.  I disconnected the power supply and left the laptop on until the battery was dead (I only could get one of the busier system configuration screens to display and use up the battery).

After the battery was completely discharged, I reconnected the power supply an immediately started the computer.  The system came up just like it normal does and booted up Windows without anything being lost.

I have been spoiled with this PC because until this week it has run flawlessly since the first time I turned it on.

I have learned a lesson - I need to do more frequent backups as I almost lost 6 months of files!
