HP laptop strange power issue

HP Recommended
HP f-337wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I have this hp f-337wm, the charging port got a little beat up, but when I plug it in the charging light still comes on, however when I press the power button the charging light turns off and nothing happens. The charging light only turns off for the amount of time I pressed the power button and will then turn back on. It has no boot up lights, noise or video. I tried connecting it to a monitor to see if the screen was the issue, it was not. I tried moving the ram stick and even taking it out, that did nothing. I tried to disconnect the battery and charger and remove static by holding the power button, no results. I'm kind of at a lost of what to do with a laptop that appears to be charging but shows no sign of powering on.

@MerlinTheWizard, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Before troubleshooting startup issues, remove or disconnect all discs and devices from the computer.

  1. Turn off the computer.

  2. Remove any discs and USB devices.

  3. Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.

  4. Disconnect all non-essential devices such as printers, scanners, external hard drives.

  5. Leave only the mouse, keyboard, and monitor connected.

After you have removed all discs and devices, turn on the computer.

  • If the computer starts, reconnect devices one at a time, to determine which disc or device is causing the problem. If the issue is solved, troubleshooting is complete.

  • If the computer still does not start and exhibits the same problem, press and hold the Power button to turn off the computer. Do not connect anything, and then continue troubleshooting.

Perform a hard reset

Resetting the computer can resolve many issues that cause a blank screen. Go to How to Power Reset Your Laptop for detailed steps to reset your notebook.

Continue to the next step if a hard reset did not resolve the issue.

Recovering the notebook BIOS using a key press combination

  1. Turn off the computer.

  2. Connect the notebook to a power source using the power adapter.

  3. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time while the computer is off.
  4. While still pressing both keys, hold down the Power button for one second, and then release the Power button and the keys.

The power LED light remains on, and the screen remains blank for about 40 seconds. You might hear beeping sounds. Afterwards, an HP BIOS Update screen displays, and the BIOS update begins.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
