Hello, my laptop is no longer properly booting, and is saying there is an issue with the hard drive. I just want to know if there is any way it could be fixed, or if I'll need to get a new one.

Hi, @Crustaceans

You will need to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

below is the link to the service manual where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

You may want to consider either one of these options to replace the drive.

1. Replace the existing 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).

2. Since the notebook has an AMD Ryzen processor, it has a M.2 slot that supports an even faster NVMe SSD.

After you replace the drive, you can use the HP cloud recovery tool with another PC running W7 64 bit or newer and a 32 GB USB flash drive to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.

HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support

Since you have to install the recovery tool on another PC, after you launch it, you will need to enter your notebook's product number in the tool's search window to proceed.

Your notebook's product number is: 4RD90EA#ABU

Here are some service videos which should also help you with the disassembly procedures.
