Hi. My laptop is not detecting the hard drive. I have backed up onto a usb and installed a new hard drive. Ran diagnostics on hard drive  and there's no problems yet it still won't boot. I also don't have the bios password. I have no idea about computers and have exhausted all google ideas! Thankyou

No one has responded to you before this because you're experiencing very different issues.

A new hard drive will be blank and thus, will not boot at all because nothing is on it.  You have to boot from something that has the software need to initialize the drive and install an OS to it.  This sounds simple, but it is not.

Newer PCs have something called Secure Boot enabled and with that, they refuse to even "see" a USB stick inserted into it.  So, they will not even try to boot from it.

You have to go into the BIOS to see if the USB stick is recognized. You do this by pressing F9 key repeatedly while rebooting.  That will eventually bring up the Boot Devices menu.  If you don't see the USB stick listed there, you have to go into BIOS settings to disable Secure Boot -- but if the BIOS requires a password, you can not do that -- and we have no way of providing you that password information.
