Hard drive short DST check failed

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I dropped my laptop and it failed to boot. I ran the system test and got the hard drive short DST CHECK FAILURE. Failure of is 94xqqj-85ea4r-xd7wlk-60us03

Laptops are not built to survive being dropped -- and the device that most often fails in that situation is the hard drive -- which is what happened to yours.

 

You will need to replace the drive.

 

Once you have that, If your PC is a 2016 model or newer, you should see if you can make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool on a working PC.

The recovery drive can then be used to install Win10 and the HP drivers and utilities that originally came with your PC.
