Help

HP Recommended

I decided to go on my HP laptop after over a year of it being stored away. As soon as I turned it on it says “enter administrator password or power on password” in a blue box in the middle of my laptop screen. As I haven’t been on it for over a year I do not know the power on password nor did I set an administrator password too. I tried to take out the battery but the screws are stuck. Anyone know how to fix it?

@Chantel2

Taking out the battery will have no effect on the password demand.

I'm really sorry that we can not help you with this, but Community policy prohibits us from assisting you in any way with bypassing or resetting passwords.

For BIOS or power-on password resets, read this HP thread: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06368824.

If you are not prepared to spend the money to get HP to replace the motherboard for BIOS password resets, you could take the PC to a local repair facility to see if they can do it for you -- but we are unable to assist in that.

For Admin password resets, you have to contact your regional HP Customer Support location directly for assistance.
