Hp Spectre 15 inch screen off but hard drive on after leaving for minutes
09-08-2019 03:26 PM

After I leave my computer downloading stuff and without sleeping whenever i try to use it again screen stays off but hard drives are still working. The thing is that i cannot use it because screen is off and there is no way to wake it unless i force shut down the laptop
Im on the most recent update and everything is up to date. What could be wrong?

In Windows 10 power settings you have a different setting for blanking the PC than for putting it to sleep.
In my case, the screen goes blank 5 minutes before it goes to sleep because I have it set that way.
You would have to examine the power settings to see what you have configured.

Thanks
The only option i had was on battery and plugged in to to turn off after five minutes and it did but i just couldnt wake it up. I cant find the "blank" screen option and anyways as long as i press keys or the power button it should turn on the display isnt it?

In the Power options, for the Windows labeled Power & sleep, I have two settings:
1) Screen
2) Sleep
If you don't have those, I don't know what to tell you.
