Hi @DeeDeeKe,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 17-inch laptop is experiencing issues where it turns on and off repeatedly, there could be several possible causes. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if applicable).
  • Hold down the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reinsert the battery (if applicable) and connect the power adapter.
  • Try turning on the laptop.

Check Power Adapter:

  • Make sure the power adapter is functioning correctly. Test it with another device if possible.
  • Check the connection between the power adapter and the laptop for any damage.
  • If you have a spare compatible power adapter, try using it to see if the issue persists.

Memory (RAM) Issues:

  • Reseat the RAM modules. Power off the laptop, disconnect the power adapter, and remove the battery (if applicable). Open the RAM compartment and reseat the RAM modules.

External Devices:

  • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external hard drives, etc.) and try turning on the laptop.

Hardware Issues:

  • It's possible that there's a hardware issue, such as a faulty motherboard or power button.

Update BIOS/UEFI:

  • Check if there is a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop on the HP website. If so, update the BIOS following the HP instructions.

System Diagnostics:

  • Many HP laptops have built-in diagnostic tools. Check the user manual or visit the HP support website for instructions on how to run system diagnostics.

Remember to back up your important data if you can access the laptop again before attempting any major troubleshooting steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
