Hi @Blueeyes42,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop won't turn on, there are several possible reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Power Connection:
- Make sure the laptop is properly plugged into a power source.
- If you are using a battery, ensure that it is charged. Try connecting the laptop directly to a power outlet without using a power strip or surge protector.
Inspect Power Adapter:
- Verify that the power adapter is working. You can do this by checking for any visible damage to the adapter or trying a different power adapter if available.
Reset Power:
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove the laptop battery (if applicable).
- Hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the power adapter (do not insert the battery yet) and try turning on the laptop.
Check for Physical Damage:
- Inspect the laptop for any physical damage, such as a cracked screen or damaged power button.
External Devices:
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.) and try turning on the laptop. Sometimes, a faulty external device can cause startup issues.
Memory (RAM) Issues:
- Reseating the RAM modules may help. Power off the laptop, remove the battery (if applicable), and then reseat the RAM modules. If you're not familiar with this process, consult your laptop's manual.
Try Safe Mode:
- If the laptop turns on but does not boot into the operating system, try booting into Safe Mode. This helps determine if the issue is related to a problematic driver or software.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
