I'm currently a retired professional, but I'm desperate to get back to the workplace, and must have the computer to accomplish that. Catch 22: Can't afford much right now, until I'm working again. Otherwise I would have bought a new one or a tablet.

What computer is this (model or product number)? What Windows version came with it? Is there a Key Code sticker on the bottom or inside the battery bay? Gotta question the advice that you have to take it back to Windows 7 and it is much easier to get Windows 10 recovery media. So help us help you and give a little more information, please.

If you had Windows 10 on it and it was activated all you need to do is go to the Microsoft Media Creation Tool page and download the disk image or just ask the Creation Tool to make a DVD or thumb drive for reinstalling Windows 10. You need no Key Code. It will automatically activate the first time you connect it to the internet. If it asks for a Key Code you just click "skip".
