Hi @Ladystihldaboss ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your laptop may have encountered a system issue or a sudden shutdown. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

Force Restart:

  • If your laptop is unresponsive, try performing a force restart. Depending on your laptop model, you can do this by holding down the power button for about 10-15 seconds until the laptop turns off completely. Then, turn it back on.

Check Power Connection:

  • Ensure that the power adapter is securely connected to both the laptop and the power outlet. Sometimes, loose connections can lead to power issues.

Remove Battery (If Applicable):

  • If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing it and then reinserting it. After that, try turning on the laptop.

Disconnect External Devices:

  • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external hard disks, etc.) from your laptop and see if it powers on.

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • If your laptop successfully starts, try booting into Safe Mode. This helps determine if the issue is related to software or drivers. If you can access Safe Mode, you may want to update or uninstall recently installed drivers or software.

Check for Overheating:

  • Overheating can cause laptops to shut down unexpectedly. Make sure the vents and fans are not blocked by dust. If your laptop feels unusually hot, let it cool down before attempting to restart.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If you recently installed software or updates that may have caused the issue, you can try performing a system restore to revert your system to a previous state.

To assist better:

  • May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
