Hi All I have a odd issue ,,, when booting from cold or when not booted for several hours , the laptop takes about 8 minutes to start up and no keyboard buttons at all work during this process , i cannot get into the Bios or anything .

only by using a wireless mouse once windows has loaded can i restart the laptop as i cannot log into windows without the keyboard .

Once I have done this 3-5 times it suddenly boots into windows in 5-10 seconds and everything then works perfectly which as you can imagine is annoying as hell.

Once its started playing nicely , i can restart it just like normal for the next hour or two ,

I have reinstalled windows from a MS image of their website , updated the bios to the latest and all drivers are installed and as up to date as a 6 year old laptop like this can be,

Going into the Bios , i have tried resetting everything to default , changed boot settings so that only the SSD is bootable and anything else I can think of but i cannot tell if any of it works as while its "warm" it works as it should .

its only once I have left it for a few hours and then try to restart it its the same issue all over again.

I have done all diagnostics and checks using the HP tools and also changed the ram for another set with no change,

Has anybody else had this same issue as its driving me crazy .

Cheers

Terry
