i have a new HP laptop, which I bought about a month ago. When I leave it in sleep mode (which automatically happens when the lid is closed) its hard drive seems to be getting hotter for some reason. When i wake it up again, it is sometimes around 50 C. As far as I know, a laptop should cool down in sleep mode rather than heat up. Why is this happening?

Some of your model laptops come with NVMe SSDs -- and those are known to run very HOT -- which is probably why the laptop is heating up.  And sorry to say, if that is the case, there is nothing you can do about it.

Thanks for the answer. Mine doesn't have an SSD though. It just has an HDD where BitLocker protection seems to be on by default. Could it be BitLocker that makes the HDD hot in sleep mode? The HDD remains around 43 C while the laptop is running. It's in sleep mode that it gets hotter for some reason.
