HP Laptop - 15-ef0023dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello! My laptop was doing fine until about two days ago when I tried to turn it on. When I press the power button the laptop starts to boot up for a couple of seconds, the screen turns on, the fan starts, and then it suddenly turns off. I need to attempt to power it on around 4 times before it actually boots up with no problems. How can I fix this?

Hi @Haika,

I'd like to help!

To assist better -

  1. Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  2.  Have you made any hardware/software changes?
  3.  Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?

Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8. (Refer to the removable and sealed battery)

BIOS default:(do not skip any troubleshooting steps even if you feel steps are repeating)

1.    Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.

2.    Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.

3.    On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.

4.    Press F10 to Save and     Exit.

5.    Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?

6.    Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

So sorry, I'm just now seeing this

1. Yes, it happened after a recent update and then stopped for a few days, then it updated again today and I'm having the same problem again

2. I haven't made any hardware or software changes

3. I haven't, I'm not sure how to

Hard reset didn't work, I'm kind of nervous to turn my laptop off because I don't think it'll turn on next time, is there anything else I can do?
