15-tu 6100 i3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop is a HP 15-tu 6100 Core i3 model running Windows 10 ; 64 bit.

Recently, it showed a message that says "Cooling fan 90B is not working". Anyway I was able to turn it on several times after that (and boot Windows normally) , only sometimes that message appeared.

Several days later , one day,  when I tried to turn my laptop on, only power light was on, NO Hard drive light. And the screen was completely blank. Capslock light was blinking 3 Long Blinks. No beeps.

I took the laptop to service center, and found that cooling fan is not working. They fixed the fan. But the problem is still the same. When I try to boot, screen is completely blank and power light is on, no hard drive light, Capslock 3 blinks.

I tried pressing power key for 30 secs with battery removed. I also tried Win Key + B (and V also)  + power button for 3 secs. Nothing worked.

Im worried that my laptop's motherboard is gone...

Please help me. Thank you in advance!

Hi

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07107

LED blinks 3 times

Memory

RAM Module failure.

1 Reseat the memory. NB:- See the Services Media Library for steps for your PC.

2 Check each individual memory module and swap slots.

3 Replace the memory modules causing three blinks or if the blinks follow the slots.

4 Replace the Main-Board.

Thank you for your reply.

But I forgot to mention that, crew at repair center already tried reseating the RAM.

My laptop has 2 slots , but one 4gb ram card. They removed it and cleaned it before placing back. They also tried it with the other slot. Finally they replaced it with a their own ram card but no progress.

I want to know is it worth enough to replace the motherboard? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Is it too expensive?

Thank you!

Hi

I don't know what the UK cost would be, or what value that equates to.

If the repair is 60 % of a new laptop, would you ?????????

Hi
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter.

NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).
