Microsoft Windows 11

Laptop model HP15-dy5033dx is unable to charge. We tried multiple chargers , all of them in perfect condition to charge other devices but laptop does not respond. Power source to the charges is functional . Laptop doesn't even confirm power supply connected at LED charging indicators.  Charging port on laptop is not obstructed or damaged.

Hi @Myself-2024,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the battery.

If your HP 15-dy5033dx laptop is not charging or turning on, even after trying multiple chargers, it could be due to a few potential causes. Here's how to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the laptop from any power source.
  • Remove any connected peripherals (USB drives, external mouse, etc.).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Plug the charger back in and try to turn on the laptop.

2. Check the Power Adapter and Charging Port:

  • Inspect the charging port for any debris, damage, or bent pins. Gently clean out the port if needed.
  • Even though you tried multiple chargers, ensure they are compatible with your laptop (same voltage and wattage).
  • Look for signs that the charger is working, such as an LED light on the charger or the charging port of the laptop.

3. Check the Battery:

  • If the laptop has a removable battery, remove it, then plug the charger in and try turning on the laptop without the battery. This will help determine if the battery is causing the problem.
  • If the battery is non-removable, try a hard reset and power the laptop without any battery charge.

4. Check for Power Indicator Lights:

  • When you plug in the charger, look for any LED lights on the laptop (charging indicator, power button light). If there are no lights, it could indicate an internal hardware issue (like a faulty charging circuit or motherboard).

5. Test with a Different Power Outlet:

  • Sometimes, a faulty wall socket or surge protector can prevent the laptop from charging. Try plugging the charger into a different outlet.

6. Inspect for Hardware Issues:

  • If there are still no signs of power, the issue could be with the internal DC jack, motherboard, or battery. At this point, professional service may be needed.

If none of these steps help, there may be an internal hardware failure, and contacting HP phone support for repair service options.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
