HP Beats Special Edition Notebook - 15-p393nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So Windows updated a few days ago.  Last night while watching a video I got a messsage that the computer was overheating, and it went into thermal shut down.  I left it shut down and unplugged it.  This morning I tried to boot it up and just after logging in, the screen goes black and it shuts itself off again.  On reboot I see a message about thermal shutdown, temperature 900. The computer isn’t hot.  Thinking it needed to be cooled down, we tried frozen gel packs under it to cool it, and without the computer being  hot it still shuts down.

This is laptop is my daughters school computer we got her for her birthday. She’s in school for digital media production so we need this working.  Honestly for the price of the thing it shouldn’t die 10 months after the warranty expires.

I understand your frustration, but honestly, we can not do anything for you from here -- especially since the warranty has expired.

You can try contacting HP Customer Support, as those are the only folks that can authorize any repairs at this point.
