Laptop shuts down as soon as it is unplugged

HP Omen 15 dc0084tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey guys,

Reposting this because I had the model number wrong (I put in the number of my older laptop) and couldn't figure out how to delete the old one.

The older post is here.

Main points (with update): my laptop shuts down as soon as the power cord is unplugged, and I can't seem to change that. On the hardware side, I used the HP Hardware Diagnostics, and the result was as follows;

Logic State: OK
Charge State: NOT AVAILABLE
(I can post the full result if needed)
I tried the hard reset, I tried reinstalling the driver. Nothing worked.

I really need this to work without being plugged in. Please help!

@k_chawla,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

If you continue facing the issue, then reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.

Here is how you do it.

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thanks for the help, @The_Fossette, but that did not work. Turns out it was a hardware issue after all, despite the hardware check coming up clean. I ended up having to replace my battery.

Cheers.
