Hi @I8soup
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The behavior you're describing—where your laptop turns on, then off, then on again, with the Caps Lock blinking in a pattern (2 slow blinks followed by 2 fast blinks)—indicates a potential hardware issue. This specific blink code often relates to a problem with the motherboard or memory (RAM). Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Reset the Laptop
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if possible).
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the power and battery, then try turning it on again.
2. Reseat the RAM
- If you're comfortable doing so, open the laptop and reseat the RAM sticks. Remove them and then reinsert them firmly. If you have multiple sticks, try booting with just one at a time to see if one is faulty.
3. Check for Hardware Issues
- Inspect the laptop for any loose connections or components that may have come loose during use.
- If your laptop has a dedicated GPU, ensure it's seated correctly.
4. Check for External Peripherals
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.) and try booting the laptop again.
5. BIOS Recovery
- If you can access the BIOS (usually by pressing a key like F10 or ESC during startup), check if you can reset to factory settings. However, given that the screen is black, this may not be possible.
6. Consult the Manual
- Check your laptop's user manual or HP's support site for the specific meaning of the blink code for your model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
