The laptop is around 1 month old. Around 4 days ago itlocked up/froze for the first time. This was in windows. We thought it was just a once off. Then froze today many times. Laptop not getting warm, does it on battery or mains. Tried to run the HP diagnostics in windows, that instantly locked up.
Reset and pressed ESC to get into the bios options. Started to run diagnostics there, this also locked up. The screen is there but no keyboard activity accepted.
Held the power button for > 15 seconds for a hard reset. Then tried the bios again, it lasted around 110 seconds before it locked up once again.
Atleast with it doing it in the BIOS screen it rules out any windows update type issues.
Perhaps it needs to be sent back to HP?

You have to send it bro, because the error relationship is different between laptops.
I am also currently in the HP Customer Care queue in my country via WhatsApp. The laptop is undergoing a symptom test since yesterday afternoon.
What you need to send is the Blue Screen error data through the symptom test.
On my laptop, after freezing, a Blue Screen will appear and the laptop will restart. Instead of restarting the laptop, I prefer to force it to shut down via the power button.
