Hello. My laptop has not been able to start up since late December of last year. After months of research, I gave up trying. Now that school has started...I need my laptop to work again...but I want to try to fix it myself before I take it to the shop. Basically...when I turn it on (with or without battery) the screen has no display and my f12 button turns orange...per usual boot up...and then just turns off. It does this about 5 times before it completely stops. Fyi...I do have an after market battery, and yes I have tried to do the hold the power button down for 15 seconds thing, does nothing. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be more than happy to here them. Thank you and have a good day.

Hi

First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat

NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.

Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).
