OMEN Laptop - 17-cb1030ur
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello.

While updating the BIOS (sp154057.exe , rev.date: August 15th) on the operating system, the laptop suddenly lost power. Since the BIOS did not load afterward, I tried to complete the BIOS loading process using the “USB recovery” method. When I load the latest version onto a USB disk and press WIN+B, the BIOS loading window opens and loads. It requires a restart. After doing this, the BIOS still does not load. I want to load previous versions (e.g., sp149750.exe), but this time WIN+B does not activate the loading command as it did with the new version. Please help me. Is there a problem with this version? Is it possible for you to release a new version?

Hi @sentavr,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a challenging BIOS recovery situation on your Omen 17 cb1030ur. Here are some steps and suggestions to help you troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue:

-Perform a power drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Power on the PC and wait for the PC to boot into Windows now.

-Update the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link. (It has multiple ways on updating the BIOS, follow the steps that can be perfromed)

Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.

Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.

Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

I have repeated all these steps multiple times. This issue is not only related to my computer. Several friends of mine who use the same HP model have experienced the same problem. We believe that you urgently need to release a new BIOS update file. Because if after installing the last version, no older version of the BIOS responds.

PS: İnformative

Spoiler

I took my laptop for repair. They removed the BIOS chip from the motherboard, reprogrammed it, and put it back. It worked. None of the video tutorials on the website helped.
