Pavilion 15-cs0086cl

This is a new laptop, purchased in June.  Often unable to wake up laptop after being in sleep (or hibernate?) or some inactivity.  End up powering down and powering back up.  Has occurred twice today.  Should not have to reload things on a new laptop, should I?  Also the fan (or some inner part) begins whirring loudly at times and then laptop freezes.  This has happened a couple of times.  Lastly, a couple of weeks ago, a noise on the machine that sounded like a loud alarm went off.  The only way to stop it was to power down and restart.  Very frustrated since this is a new machine and am relatively PC illiterate.

Was unable to connect to 24/7 chat.

Chat is available in certain regions (locations on the planet) and during certain times (likely business hours as defined for your region).  Chat is not available everywhere.

If you live in a supported area, at least phone support should be available, though it may be necessary that you first submit an online case to receive the local phone contact number(s) for your location.  Once the case is submitted, contact options as available should be displayed on your screen.

Yes, new computer hardware should work as expected.  There are mitigating factors that relate to the overall operation, including Windows Updates, your network and configuration, the software you have installed on the computer (possibly in addition to the Windows OS that came installed on the computer).

For example,

  • The network to which you are connected must be configured correctly and settings must be appropriate for your situation.

  • Windows Updates should be completed (Settings > Update & Security > Check for updates).
  • HP Software / Drivers should be current (Software and Drivers).

Update / install software manually, using Windows Update, or using the HP Support Assistant.

If you have completed the troubleshooting - and even if not - you can submit a case to HP Technical Support.  An HP technician can provide steps to check the computer and suggest available options.

Reminders

  • Use the serial number of the device to submit the case (do not post that information on the Community).

  • Chat is not available in every region. In those areas where Chat is an option, Chat service hours are likely restricted.  In the event that Chat is not available in your region:  Call the number provided in the HP directory, else submit your case online (to receive phone contact information)

  • HP will advise you there is a fee for phone support and / or other services when your computer / device is no longer under warranty.  This is normal business practice.

  • HP may tell you that certain services are not covered under warranty.  This is normal business practice.  Standard Warranty typically covers specific hardware issues as explained in the Warranty contract. Care Pack coverage and warranties differ by package.

  • If the HP Contact (phone) number is not immediately provided:  Contact information is displayed on your screen after you submit your case online.
