HP Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've had my laptop for over 3 months now and for some reason when I'm not using my laptop the screen freezes, even the clock freezes. I can't seem to do anything with it except to switch it off. The time in which it freezes changes, sometimes within 2 minutes of me leaving it alone, or sometimes 1 or even longer hours. I just don't seem to understand why that is. If someone could guide me or give me some tips on how to prevent this, I'll be very grateful.

Hi @Chilem,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the screen becomes unresponsive when you leave the computer idle.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

Meanwhile, I recommend you update the bios, chipset and graphics driver from the below link and test.

I’ve tried to troubleshooting but I can’t find the exact problem I’ve been having. There’s nothing about the screen freezing. As this is my work laptop I have only kept the applications which are relevant to work and that’s it. However, since I’ve posted this query i’ve Updated the Bios and the graphic driver and even though th laptop was on the whole night I did not end up finding my laptop with an unresponsive screen. I’m going to keep an eye on it and see if the problem occurs.
