Hi @Wolf-Max,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 13-bb0000 is not accepting alphanumeric characters to enter your password, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Check Keyboard Layout
- Ensure your keyboard layout is set correctly, as an incorrect layout might cause unexpected characters.
- On the login screen, click on the language or keyboard layout icon in the lower-right corner of the screen and select the correct keyboard layout (e.g., US, UK).
2. Use On-Screen Keyboard
- If the physical keyboard is not responding correctly, try using the on-screen keyboard.
- Click on the Ease of Access icon on the login screen (bottom-right corner).
- Select On-Screen Keyboard and use it to enter your password.
3. Restart the Laptop
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.
- Press and hold the power button to force a shutdown, then power it back on.
4. Check for Stuck Keys
- Ensure none of the keys on your keyboard are stuck or pressed down.
- Gently press all keys to ensure they are functioning properly.
5. External Keyboard
- Connect an external USB keyboard to see if it allows you to enter your password.
- If the external keyboard works, the issue might be with your laptop's built-in keyboard
Kindly check the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

- Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
- In the Command Prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each:
- Restart your laptop and see if the issue is resolved.
8. Check for BIOS Update
- Ensure your BIOS is up to date by visiting the HP Support website and downloading the latest BIOS update for your laptop model.
- Follow the instructions provided to update the BIOS.
9. Reset Password via Microsoft Account
- If you are using a Microsoft account to log in, you can reset your password online.
- On another device, go to the Microsoft account password reset page.
- Follow the instructions to reset your password.
10. Perform a System Restore
- If the issue started recently, perform a system restore to a point before the problem began.
