My HP envy gave me a CMOS error and is now frozen on the HP loading screen.

My computer gave me a CMOS (502) error saying CMOS checksum not valid. I've never seen this error before so I'm nervous. It started back up successfully, but I saw my computer needed a number of updates so I decided to apply all updates and restart my PC. It's been about two hours and it's still on the black start-up screen with the HP logo and spinning wheel.
