Hi @Bplnt,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When an HP laptop 14 is unable to enter the BIOS after an update, it suggests there might be an issue with the BIOS update itself. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve this issue.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the laptop.
- Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove the AC adapter.
- Remove the battery if it is removable.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors.
- Reconnect the AC adapter (but do not reconnect the battery if it is removable).
- Turn on the laptop.
Try Entering BIOS via Windows
- Boot into Windows if possible.
- Navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
- Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
- When your PC restarts, click Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings > Restart.
Clear the CMOS
- Turn off the laptop.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and any other peripherals.
- Remove the battery if it is removable.
- Open the laptop to access the motherboard (this may require a manual specific to your model for guidance).
- Locate the CMOS battery (a small round battery similar to a watch battery).
- Remove the CMOS battery carefully.
- Wait for about 5-10 minutes, then reinsert the CMOS battery.
- Reassemble the laptop, reconnect the battery and AC adapter, and try to turn it on.
Use a BIOS Recovery Method
HP laptops often have a built-in BIOS recovery feature. Here’s how to use it:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold the Windows + B keys, and then press the power button for 2-3 seconds.
- Release the power button but continue to hold the Windows + B keys until the BIOS recovery screen appears.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the BIOS.
USB BIOS Recovery
- Download the latest BIOS update for your specific laptop model from the HP support website using another computer.
- Create a BIOS recovery USB drive using the HP BIOS Update utility.
- Insert the USB drive into the laptop and try the BIOS recovery process again (usually Windows + B keys).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
