Hi @Thabakgolomotlh,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Notebook is prompting you to download BIOS drivers, it likely needs a BIOS update or there is an issue with the current BIOS version. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you update the BIOS on your HP Notebook:

Steps to Update BIOS on HP Notebook

Identify Your Notebook Model and Current BIOS Version:

  • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type msinfo32 and press Enter. This opens the System Information window.
  • Look for the System Model to find your notebook model.
  • Note the BIOS Version/Date for the current BIOS version.

Visit the HP Support Website:

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
  • Enter your notebook model in the search box and select it from the list.

Find the BIOS Update:

  • Navigate to the “BIOS” section in the list of drivers.
  • Look for the latest BIOS update available for your model and operating system.

Download and Prepare the BIOS Update:

  • Download the BIOS update file.
  • The file usually comes as an executable (.exe). Save it to a location you can easily find, such as your desktop.

Backup Important Data:

  • It’s crucial to back up any important data before proceeding with a BIOS update as there is a small risk of something going wrong during the update process.

Ensure Your Laptop is Plugged In:

  • Make sure your laptop is connected to a reliable power source. Do not run the update on battery power alone.

Run the BIOS Update:

  • Locate the downloaded BIOS update file and double-click it.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions carefully. The system may restart multiple times during the update process.

After the Update:

  • Once the update is complete, your system will reboot. Check the BIOS version again (using the msinfo32 command) to ensure the update was successful.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
