You're very welcome

You don't need to update the BIOS to fix that problem

You will need clean install Windows on the hard drive you installed.

Thank you for the file. I am certain that in order to undo the mess I made I will need it.

In error, I copied a hard drive from one computer on to the hard drive of another computer, Now the hard drive that got copied over won't boot its computer. It tells me "Boot Device Not Found". Please install operating system on your hard drive. Hard Disk (3F0)

I need to get the hard drive back to being able to boot the computer and being the novice I am don't know how to do it. I don't need the data on the hard drive I just need it to boot up the laptop.

Does it have to be Windows 7 or can I use Windows 10

HP Recommended

The problem is if the PC was not previously upgraded to W10, you won't be able to install W10 for free anymore.

Delete all of the partitions on drive 0 leaving just one partition of unallocated.

Click next and Windows should install.

So far so good. Windows 10 loaded.

Thank you. You are a saint with the patience to go with that title. I don't think I would have been able to get this far without your assistance.  Who am I kidding. I would still be scratching my head.

Now it is a matter of finding the best free back up software so I can back up her data for the broken drive and adding it to the new drive.

Once again thank you tremendously for sticking with me and providing your insight and solution to my issue.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

I used to use Macrium Reflect but some company bought them out and they no longer offer the software for free.
