HP Chrombook 14a

I received today a brand new HP Chromebook 14a laptop. Its not powering on at all. I have checked the cables, the adapter and all the tricks of pressing refresh and power button, NOTHING is working. Could someone please help?

@jozo345

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

A hard or forced reset erases all information in the computer memory. This forces the system to clear and reestablish the software connections between the BIOS and the hardware.

A hard reset does not remove any local files or settings.

  1. Press the power button  and refresh button  for five seconds. The computer turns off, and then turns on again.

  2. If necessary, press power button again to turn on the laptop.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Echo_Lake, As indicated in my post, I did all that without success. This device has never been powered successfully since it arrived a few days ago.

Hi,

For what it's  worth,  I had the same issue with the same chromebook I received as a gift. I would consider myself computer literate but not "expert" status. I spent 2 days trying to get mine to boot. No lights, no sounds, I tried recovery key options, even tried opening it and checking all of the connections. I finally threw in the towel and had to mail it in and  wait on a replacement. It was still under warranty so no issue there. Got a new one delivered about a week later. No issues to date. Good luck
