No power light & won't power up... swapped power adapter & verified that there is 19v dc. Ideas?

HP Pavilion 15-p214dx
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

When plugging in the power adapter, the "charge" light does not come on, nor will the notebook power up. To rule out the HP power adapter I plugged in a Targus universal adapter (with correct polarity) and same result. Same results whether the battery is installed or not. The notebook had been in storage for several months, therefore, no recent changes. Any ideas?

Hey there! @JFC56, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand that you have charging issues with your laptop.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Kudos to you for trying out the steps before reaching out to us.

Have you tried updating BIOS on your PC?

If you are able to power on your PC, please update the BIOS.

As you mentioned that you have already tried with a different adapter and the charging light does not come up on your laptop.

It looks to be a hardware issue. It could be an issue with the DC connector or the system board itself.

I would suggest you contact HP and get the service options.

Link to contact HP.

I'll keep an eye out for your response.

I hope you have a great day! :)
