Not able to use my pc

I’m very uncertain for the cause of this problem to my hp computer, but I hope you all can help. When I first start the computer, a black screen pops up, and at the bottom, it would say press esc to start the startup menu. When I do continue, it would then say, Recovery,  you computer needs to be repaired. I don’t know what to do. ( Also sorry for my bad English, I’m new to learning it ).
