Hi @phlupcke,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When an HP OMEN Laptop 17-CKxxx does not start and shows no signs of power despite a working power supply, several potential issues could be causing this problem. Here's a step-by-step guide to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

Basic Troubleshooting Steps

Power Cycle the Laptop:

  • Disconnect the laptop from the power supply.
  • Remove the battery if it is removable.
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 15-20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power supply (without the battery if it was removable) and try turning on the laptop.

Check for Loose Connections:

  • Ensure the power connector is firmly plugged into the laptop.
  • Inspect the power cord for any visible damage or fraying.

Inspect the Power Port and Adapter:

  • Check the laptop's power port for any debris or damage.
  • Use a different, known-working power adapter to rule out issues with the power supply.

Advanced Troubleshooting

If the basic steps do not resolve the issue, consider the following:

Reset the CMOS:

  • If you are comfortable opening your laptop, you can try resetting the CMOS battery. This often involves removing a small battery on the motherboard for a few minutes and then replacing it.

Check for a Faulty Component:

  • Remove any peripherals (external mouse, keyboard, USB devices) and try starting the laptop.
  • If you recently upgraded any hardware (RAM, SSD), revert to the original configuration to see if the new component is causing the issue.

Inspect the Battery and Internal Connections:

  • If the battery is removable, try starting the laptop with the battery removed but connected to AC power.
  • Open the laptop (if you are comfortable doing so) and check for any loose internal cables or connections.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
