Example: Pavilion 14-ce0068st
Microsoft Windows 10 in S Mode

I had logged on to my pavilion lap top and was logging on to the WiFi at my daughters house when my screen changed and said do not turn off your lap top update in progress. When it finished it said to restart your computer, so I did. I was able to log into the WiFi but when I tried to log on to the lap top my key board was locked or off, the numbers worked but not the letters?

@edhindf
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,  I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Firstly, perform Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8

BIOS default:

  • Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  • Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  • On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  • Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?

Follow the prompts to restart your computer and try typing in the password using a keyboard:
If that fails then use an On-screen keyboard:

  1. Press Windows+X to open the Quick Access Menu, and select Command Prompt.
  2. Enter osk in the Command Prompt and press Enter.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
