Probook 6460 BIOS admin lockout

Probook 6460B
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I received this computer from my son.  I went into the BIOS and reset it to factory defaults.  While I was in the BIOS utility, I set the administrator password.  What I tried to reboot the computer I cannot get past the BIOS admin because the password I created is not working.  I removed the cover and unplugged the CMOS battery for 10 minutes with no change.  Without replacing the BIOS chip, what else can I do?

Probook 6460 BIOS admin lockout

Hi:

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to help you, since HP will no longer supply the required SMC.bin file that is used to clear the BIOS password.

That was the only way it could be done.

Most HP business notebooks including the one you have, do not generate system disabled codes.

Also, removing the CMOS battery will not clear the P/W.

HP issued this document recently...

The forum rules were amended on 1 March 2019, which no longer allow us to help with removing passwords.

Rule 4.d...

d. No posts shall include instructions or directions intended to bypass or subvert security measures, including passwords, locking mechanisms, fingerprint scans, etc., or to bypass any safety measures.
