Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have replaced my the motherboard in the laptop due to water damage and everything works, but I am missing Product information / Serial number etc on boot up as per this link http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443496. I cannot contact HP directly via phone as support has ended for this laptop, any advice on how to resolve this issue would be appreciated.

It is a genuine new part not refurbished if that helps.

Kind Regards

Grant

Hello Grant,

There is a specific tool which is used to commit and lock the system board once replaced

  • Changing and committing information at this level requires the system to be unlocked for reprogramming with a digitally signed System Management Command (SMC) file.
  • This is unique to each system UUID, and is generated at the time of need by HP Service
  •  Without that file, the information can't be reprogrammed and not publicly available.

The software tool to you use to put the product information into the system board runs under windows, so if Windows doesn't boot you can't put the information into the system.

Request you contact any of the HP Authorised Service Providers, if no help then you will have to contact HP for assitance.

Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again
