Most of the time I can turn on the laptop and it comes up just fine.

On occasion, the laptop willpower up, but requests an HP password.  The computer was purchased in 2016 and I have no idea what the password is.   It offers the option to reset the password, but then wants an external password reset zip drive inserted.  Have no idea how to get such a thing.

 

If I power the machine down once or twice; it will then come back to life without a password.

 

I would like to reset the password in order to avoid a future failure.

 

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

According to the Community's Rules of Participation:

For cases related to BitLocker issues, please contact Microsoft Support.
