Product: OMEN Laptop - 15-ek0013dx
symptom: BSOD
Boots into windows, freezes within 1 minute, BSOD
Tried Chkdsk, tried diagnosis, tried a lot of different things.
My initial thought...possible SSD failure?
wear percentage = 2
Does that mean it's almost dead? Or still very healthy?
I also don't understand how diagnosis shows 2 SSD drives...when this laptop only has 1 SSD?
Thank you for any help and suggestions.

I have seen this error in many models that use Intel disks with Optane, for some reason they become unpaired, and stop working and only read the 32 GB Optane where there is no operating system. Personally, I recommend in these cases changing to an M.2 NVME, without Optane they are faster and more reliable.

Hi @Travelbug3
It doesn't have two drives, it has a single drive with a 32GB Intel Optane unit (approx. 27GB), integrated with the 500 GB disk, which accelerates and gives it more speed.
Intel Optane does not have DST control, which is why it may not appear in the test. The BSOD problem may be due to another reason.
try doing the following
In windows search type CMD, in the result click run as administrator and type (One at a time and then enter)
sfc /scannow
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
then restart windows and check

ok thank you. Is this ssd salvageable at all? for example could i buy a sata-2-usb adapter and format the drive, then re-install the OS etc and plug it back in?
Or if not...could I format it and use this sdd as an external drive?
Lastly, if no to the above q's...where I can I find all the drivers/software for my specific laptop model to start a clean install? And will I need to buy a whole new Windows license or is there a way that windows will recognize my laptop when I do a fresh install on a new ssd?
Thanks a million!

I don't think so, you can't use it as an external drive because it needs Intel RST drivers to work.
Don't worry about the license, it is saved in the BIOS and when you install Windows it takes the license from there.

Thanks again for the quick response!
I sprung for a Samsung ssd. It works now. But what a process jeez.
After putting in the new ssd, I tried restoring using the system image provided by the HP recovery tool.
It didn't work.
The recovery failed over and over.
So I just installed windows onto the ssd. That booted up. I then used HP's tool to autoscan my laptop for all the necessary drivers and install them. Installed all the latest windows updates too. Everything seems to be updated....buuuut...the mouse pad won't work! The touchpad on the laptop. No worky. I manually found, downloaded and installed drivers for it. still nada.
Am I missing something?
