Pavilion - 14-bk154sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This device stopped charging and the battery I believe is now fully depleted. Will not boot on AC with our without battery. 3 blinks white blinks on DC LED then permanent orange (if battery is connected)

Seems live power is getting through the board.

Main question should this device boot on AC with no battery?

Cheers

Hi,

Yes, it should run on only ac power.

Are you sure the ac adapter is good? Can you try another charger?

David

Thanks David, I had presumed it would but just wanted to check for sure. The PSU is 100% okay but I did also try replacement. Sadly it looks like it is a board issue. Shame is only 18 months old

@2preston

If the issue is not with the Ac Adapter, then it's likely to be a motherboard issue

OK. I guess no help is coming.

What happens when you press the power button? No sign of life at all?

So, you have already tried the hard reset? Here is how it is done:

https://support.hp.com/ph-en/document/c01684768

You should also try to recover the BIOS

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833

I would also try removing the battery and performing the power reset and try booting the computer. (page 33)

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05635556

next, try removing everything from motherboard except RAM and try to boot.

David
