spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there, the problem is persistant so I am complaining again:

I have a spectre x360 2020 but when I use it the laptop shuts down after 30 seconds of playing or intensive usage as 4k vidéo playback. I suspect it is due to an overheat problem, the fan don't even have time to rev up.
- Bios update doesn't solve the problem (currently F.28)

- Setting in BIOS "fan alwase on" doesn't do anything, setting don't work (fan doesn't stay on)
- CoolSense or "HP Cool Control" on the official support page is actually HP Display Control

HP_Cool_Control Hp_Display_Control.PNG

- Since everything is locked, there is no way to set suctom fan curve (speedfan, fancontrol,..) even HP Command Center doesn't allow you to set anything on my Spectre X360 13' 2020

Thanks in advance, please fix your things because you don't let customer fix it for you..

Hi,
The problem seem to be solved. I had to fully uninstall the intel graphic driver in device manager and reinstall the one given by HP on it's support page. Fans still take time to rev up, but I didn't had my PC suting down for overheating for some days now...

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

To get the answer to this question, while gaming your hardware needs to operate at a higher rate to ensure performance levels are met. So, naturally, your components get much hotter especially 4k content.

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
